Claire Lasolle

BIOGRAPHIE

Claire Lasolle est membre du comité de sélection du FIDMarseille depuis 2020 et membre du comité du FIDLAB, plateforme internationale de coproduction, depuis 2025. Elle a été coresponsable du focus consacrée à Laure Prouvost lors de l’édition 2023. Elle est cofondatrice de Videodrome 2 (Marseille), cinéma alternatif ancré dans l’histoire des cinéclubs et des cinémathèques qui propose une programmation quotidienne (cinéma patrimonial, films expérimentaux, documentaires, séries de films, conférences et séminaires…). Elle en a assuré la coordination artistique et le développement de 2014 à 2025. Claire Lasolle a participé à des jurys internationaux (RIDM, Connecting Cottbus, Festival du cinéma différent et expérimental de Paris…) et s’implique dans divers domaines de la distribution et de la culture cinématographiques, notamment dans la programmation, la critique et l’éducation. De par sa pratique, elle s’intéresse aux cinéclubs comme espace de réinvention d’un voir ensemble et d’une économie de l’échange autour du cinéma et de circulation des savoirs cinéphiles. Avec Ben Russell, Jeff Silva et Laurent van Lancker, elle programme l’événement mensuel Double Vision avec le soutien de la Chaire d’excellence A*Midex.

BIOGRAPHY

Claire Lasolle has been a member of the selection committee for the FIDMarseille festival since 2020 and a member of the committee for FIDLAB, an international co-production platform, since 2025. She has been responsible for the focus on Laure Prouvost during the 2023 edition. She is co-founder of Videodrome 2 (Marseille), an alternative cinema anchored in the story of cinéclubs and cinémathèques, rooted in the history of film clubs and film libraries, with a daily program (heritage cinema, experimental films, documentaries, film series, talks, and seminars…). In this frame, she has been responsible for artistic coordination and development from 2014 to 2025. Claire Lasolle took part to international juries (RIDM, Connecting Cottbus, Festival du cinéma différent et expérimental de Paris…) and is involved in various areas of film distribution and culture, particularly in programming, criticism, and education. Through her work, she is interested in film clubs as spaces for reinventing the act of viewing together and creating an economy of exchange around cinema and the circulation of film knowledge. With Ben Russell, Jeff Silva, and Laurent van Lancker, she programs the monthly event Double Vision with the support of the A*Midex Chair of Excellence.Together with Ben Russell, Jeff Silva, and Laurent van Lancker, she programs the monthly event Double Vision with the support of the A*Midex Chair of Excellence.

Laurent Van Lancker

BIOGRAPHIE

Laurent Van Lancker a étudié à la fois le cinéma et l’anthropologie, et est titulaire d’un doctorat de l’université de Gand. Il est professeur d’anthropologie visuelle à Aix- Marseille Université (AMIDEX, IDEAS, AMU, CNRS), où il a créé un groupe de recherche sur les « formes narratives alternatives » (« Alternative Narrative Forms for Audiovisual Anthropology »). Il a cofondé le project lab SoundImageCulture (SIC), et a enseigné au sein d’universités et d’écoles d’art à travers l’Europe (Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Berlin, Münster, Split). Il a réalisé quinze films (films expérimentaux, documentaires et fictions) et a été lauréat de neuf prix internationaux. Ses premières œuvres documentaires sur des thèmes sociaux et religieux ont été suivies d’une série d’œuvres brèves nommées « ethnographies expérimentales ». Récemment, il a réalisé trois longs métrages autour de la migration. Ses œuvres s’inspirent de différents modes : cinéma collaboratif, hybride et sensoriel. BIOGRAPHY

Laurent Van Lancker studied both film and anthropology and holds a PhD from Ghent University. He is a professor of visual anthropology at Aix-Marseille University (AMIDEX, IDEAS, AMU, CNRS), where he created a research group on “Alternative Narrative Forms for Audiovisual Anthropology.” He co-founded the SoundImageCulture (SIC) project lab and has taught at universities and art schools across Europe (Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Münster, Split). He has directed fifteen films (experimental, documentary, and fiction) and has won nine international awards. His early documentary works on social and religious themes were followed by a series of short works called “experimental ethnographies.” Recently, he has directed three feature films on migration. His works are inspired by different modes: collaborative, hybrid, and sensory cinema. They offer a dialogue between ethics and aesthetics, poetics and politics.

Ben Russell est un artiste, cinéaste et conservateur américain dont le travail se situe à la croisée du cinéma expérimental, de l’anthropologie visuelle et de l’image documentaire. Russell a exposé à la documenta 14 (2017) et son travail a été présenté au Centre Georges Pompidou, au Museum of Modern Art, à la Tate Modern, au Museum of Modern Art de Chicago, au Festival du film de Venise et à la Berlinale, entre autres. Parmi ses projets de conservation, citons Magic Lantern (Providence, États-Unis, 2005-2007), BEN RUSSELL (Chicago, États-Unis, 2009-2011), Hallucinations (Athènes, Grèce, 2017) et Double Vision (Marseille, France, 2024-). Il est basé à Marseille, en France, et est actuellement résident à la Villa Médicis à Rome, en Italie.

Ben Russell is an American artist, filmmaker and curator whose work lies at the intersection of experimental cinema, visual anthropology and the documentary image. Russell was an exhibiting artist at documenta 14 (2017) and his work has been presented at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Modern, the Museum of Modern Art Chicago, the Venice Film Festival and the Berlinale, among others. Curatorial projects include Magic Lantern (Providence, USA, 2005-2007), BEN RUSSELL (Chicago, USA, 2009-2011), Hallucinations (Athens, Greece, 2017) and Double Vision (Marseille, France 2024-). He is based in Marseille, France and is currently a resident at Villa Medici in Rome, Italy.

Jeff Silva

Jeff Silva est un artiste, cinéaste et anthropologue dont le travail lie pratique créative et recherche ethnographique. Titulaire d’un Master of Fine Arts en pratiques artistiques contemporaines du Vermont College of Fine Arts et d’un doctorat en anthropologie sociale de l’EHESS, il est actuellement chercheur au CNRS/La Fabrique des Écritures Ethnographiques et associé au projet AMIDEX « Alternative Narrative Forms in Audiovisual Anthropology » (AMU, IDEAS). Sa pratique explore les enchevêtrements stratifiés de la vie humaine et de la vie plus- qu’humaine dans des territoires bouleversés, façonnés par l’extraction, la conservation et la mémoire culturelle. Travaillant à la fois dans les domaines du cinéma, du son et de la photographie, Jeff Silva utilise des méthodes multimodales et collaboratives pour explorer les traces sensorielles et historiques des changements environnementaux et sociopolitiques. Ses films ont été présentés dans le monde entier, notamment au MoMA, aux Visions du Réel, au Doclisboa et à la Viennale.

Jeff Silva is an artist, filmmaker, and anthropologist whose work combines creative practice and ethnographic research. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in contemporary artistic practices from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a doctorate in social anthropology from EHESS. He is currently a researcher at CNRS/La Fabrique des Écritures Ethnographiques and is associated with the AMIDEX project “Alternative Narrative Forms in Audiovisual Anthropology” (AMU, IDEAS). His practice explores the layered entanglements of human and more-than-human life in disrupted territories shaped by extraction, conservation, and cultural memory. Working in the fields of film, sound, and photography, Jeff Silva uses multimodal and collaborative methods to explore the sensory and historical traces of environmental and sociopolitical change. His films have been shown around the world, including at MoMA, Visions du Réel, Doclisboa, and the Viennale.

Narimane Mari

Narimane Mari est productrice et réalisatrice. Elle fonde Centrale Electrique en France et Allers Retours Films en Algérie pour produire des films qui ont en commun une puissance d’imaginaire et un libre attachement à l’Histoire contemporaine. Présentés dans de nombreux festivals, ils ont remporté plusieurs prix.
En parallèle elle réalise ses propres films à la recherche de langages, explorant les formes de récits. PROLOGUE, LOUBIA HAMRA/BLOODY BEANS (acquisition FRAC Sud), HOLY DAYS reçoivent de nombreuse distinctions au FID, Toronto, BFI… Ils sont montrés au Centre Pompidou Paris, Louisiana Copenhague, Biennale of Shanghai… LE FORT DES FOUS fait sa première à Documenta 14 sous forme d’installation et à Locarno et rejoint la collection du Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP). En 2023, son travail personnel fait l’objet de rétrospectives à Gabès Film Festival en Tunisie, Reina Sofia Madrid, MoMA à New York et en 2024 au Festival en Ville de Bruxelles. ON A EU LA JOURNEE BONSOIR, son dernier film présenté en première mondiale au FID Marseille a reçu le Grand prix de la compétition Française et le prix du CNAP. Narimane Mari a entre autres produit Dans ma tête un rond-point et 143 rue du désert multi-primés (Locarno prix du réalisateur émergent, DMZ, Torino… ) de Hassen Ferhani; Atlal, de Djamel Kerkar (prix premier FID). En mars 2024, elle lance avec Corinne Castel et une micro équipe Some strings, un ensemble de gestes filmiques inédits d’artistes internationaux qui prend sa source en Palestine. Narimane Mari is a producer and director. She founded Centrale Electrique in France and Allers Retours Films in Algeria to produce films that share a powerful imagination and a free approach to contemporary history. Presented at many festivals, they have won several awards.
At the same time, she directs her own films, searching for languages and exploring narrative forms. PROLOGUE, LOUBIA HAMRA/BLOODY BEANS (acquired by FRAC Sud), and HOLY DAYS have received numerous awards at FID, Toronto, BFI, and elsewhere. They have been shown at the Centre Pompidou, Louisiana Copenhagen, Biennale of Shanghai,… LE FORT DES FOUS premiered at Documenta 14 as an installation and in Locarno, joined the collection of the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP).  In 2023, her personal work will be the subject of retrospectives at the Gabès Film Festival in Tunisia, Reina Sofia Madrid, MoMA in New York, and in 2024 at the Festival en Ville in Brussels. ON A EU LA JOURNEE BONSOIR, Narimane Mari’s latest film, which premiered at FID Marseille, received the Grand Prize in the French competition and the CNAP Prize. Daniela Rodrigues

Daniela Rodrigues est anthropologue, avec une formation en dessin et en film ethnographique. Son travail combine pratiques artistiques et académiques, principalement à travers des méthodes collaboratives. Privilégiant les outils analogiques, elle anime depuis 2015 des ateliers de dessin ethnographique, où elle explore le dessin comme une pratique immersive d’attention et de fabrication de mondes. Son livre illustré coisas de lá / aqui já está sumindo eu a reçu en 2020 le Prix du meilleur essai audiovisuel en anthropologie, décerné par l’Association portugaise d’anthropologie. Elle est actuellement chercheuse postdoctorale au sein du projet AMIDEX « Alternative Narrative Forms for Audiovisual Anthropology » (AMU, IDEAS), où elle explore des perspectives onto-épistémologiques sur le sol, conçu comme une entité écosociale. Elle est membre du laboratoire autogéré Laboratório da Torre (Porto), du NAVA – Noyau d’anthropologie visuelle et d’art du Centre en réseau de recherche en anthropologie (CRIA, Portugal), ainsi que du CAV – Comité d’anthropologie visuelle de l’Association brésilienne d’anthropologie. Elle est coopérante de la Minga – Cooperativa Integral (Montemor- o-Novo).

BIOGRAPHY

Daniela Rodrigues is an anthropologist with training in drawing and ethnographic film. Her work combines artistic and academic practices, mainly through collaborative methods. Favoring analog tools, she has been leading ethnographic drawing workshops since 2015, where she explores drawing as an immersive practice of attention and world-building. Her illustrated book coisas de lá / aqui já está sumindo eu received the 2020 Award for Best Audiovisual Essay in Anthropology from the Portuguese Anthropology Association. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher with the AMIDEX project “Alternative Narrative Forms for Audiovisual Anthropology” (AMU, IDEAS), where she explores onto-epistemological perspectives on soil, conceived as an eco-social entity. She is a member of the self-managed Laboratório da Torre (Porto), NAVA – Visual Anthropology and Art Core of the Center for Research in Anthropology (CRIA, Portugal), and CAV – Visual Anthropology Committee of the Brazilian Association of Anthropology. She is a member of Minga – Cooperativa Integral (Montemor-o-Novo).
